Ana
She’s sitting there.
Watching you.
That bite of hamburger you just took, she make you’ll regret it.
At first she’s your friend.
She promise’s you the world.
You’ll be perfect she says, nothing can go wrong.
You, start to follow her.
Her commands start off slow, skip a snack, drink only water.
Then she starts to expect more of you.
Skip meals, exercise an hour a day.
Others start to comment on your new habits.
She tells you to push them away.
They are just bringing you down.
She is always watching.
Every movement you make she is watching.
The number on the scale keeps going down.
She isn’t happy yet.
Keep going, she says, you HAVE to be perfect.
Then you crack.
You eat.
She leads you to the bathroom.
She forces your fingers down your throat till it is all out.
She says that is your punishment.
You are tired.
You are cold.
You are a mess.
But you get up and run anyway.
It’s what she wants.
Your running and everything starts to go black.
You want to stop but she pushes you harder.
You feel yourself falling.
You hit the ground.
You awake to the noise of the hospital.
They have you hooked to tubes.
She tells you to rip them out.
They are making you fat.
Taking away everything you have worked so hard for.
You frantically try and rip the tubes out.
Alarms sound.
Nurses run into your room.
Not giving up, you fight.
Then a pain stops you in your tracks.
You hear a steady beep.
Someone yells.
She is waiting for you.
You failed me she says.
She walks away.
Leaving you in the darkness.
Onto her next victim.
Her name is Ana.
