The Fountains mingle with the river
and the river with the ocean;
The winds of heaven mix for ever
With sweet emotion.
Nothing in this world is single;
All things by law divine
In one spirit meet and mingle,
Why not I with thine?-
Percy Bysshe Shelly, Loves Philosophy

In dreams, I go to a garden of love-
There are so many beautiful flowers;
the sky above me is a robin blue,
and I wear a wedding dress,
of sweet ivory covered with pearls;
and I am walking up a pebble path.
A lovely chapel waits with doors open,
but when I reach it- the doors are locked;
and I am full of unrequited longing.
I back away from the chapel weeping,
and turning away I begin to run-
running, running through the garden of love.
The blue sky gone, now there is darkness,
the garden gone, now I am in a sad place.
And I fall to my knees- I am at his tomb,
the stone cold tomb of my eternal lover;
a lover who cannot return my embrace.
It is a one-sided obsession this love,
there is no romance, no sweet kisses;
a stone returns no love-
But tomorrow I will dream it again,
and forever, this unrequited love.
