An Oath To Truth and Right

Sorrow had passed his way many times, said the lines across his brow. His truth was challenged again and again, but to lies he refused to bow. Even in the face of death, his ground he firmly stood. He'd taken an oath long years ago, to always do as he knew he should. His craving for Truth was beyond his control, he must stand for Truth and right. After bloodedly beaten by the cat of nine tails, there he stood a horrid sight. The cowards were befuddled, twas six against one, they demanded at once he must lie. “Why take all the pain, it's insane,” they taunted; “you'll surely die.” Should he admit to a deed he'd not done? Should he lie to save his life? He knew if he did, the lie had won, making meaningless all his strife. “Untie my hands, give me a sword, one against six; I'll fight. Truth will prevail and have her way, I’ll gladly accept my plight." The ropes were cut, his hands set free. A sword was thrown to the ground, and finally found with swollen eyes that could barely see. He quickly called out to the power within, “Please overcome my will”! For a man of love, 'twas a torturous path, for six men he'd have to kill. Then with power he'd never known, with skills that all seemed new. The six were slain and Truth had won, Truth and right had gotten their due. He lifted his arms and offered his thanks, to the power that carried him through. Being faithful to the oath, to be true to himself, Was the right thing for him to do.

Never stray away from the path of righteousness ! Those who adhere to truth will have to suffer, but the end victory is theirs ! Holding on to truth demands great sacrifice, still it is worth, for such a person can hold his head high. An inspiring story, I much enjoyed, dear Bill

Yes, it was fiction. I was just trying to make a point as to how important honor and keeping my word is. Thank for finding my first. Hugs, Bill
