Author's Notes: "An Echo Through Time," is a Rhymed Couplet I wrote as a highly allegorical write expressed with obvious poetic technique and symbolism to capture the notion of the quality of a poem's "staying power," whereby it virtually becomes "an echo through time," in and of itself. I also wrote this poem as a definite thought-piece to examine how many of us may deal with or consider certain famous poems from the past that can and do have an influence or even a contemporaneous relationship with present tense events and circumstances today. Sometimes, certain famous poems of this nature, may have a resonant quality that can impact poets today when they're thinking about possible themes they wish to undertake for a new poem that actually has possible related historical antecedents to some of these older poems. Something to think about for sure!! (Gary Bateman - November 27, 2015) (Rhymed Couplet)

An Echo Through Time An echo through time follows all now in kind; It’s the moment when poets find their rhyme! Past-Present events give us a mirror to see from, Of what Present Perfect events have now become. Poets must write to truth what surely they mean; With such wondrous verses the reader shall glean! Writing with tone, tenor and syncopation is grand, Giving poets that mellifluous effect desired by plan. The echo quality of a great poem bespeaks its passion, Whilst its literary panache shall always be in fashion! An echo reflects a poem’s true resonance by intention; Ensuring one’s mind shifts to an intellectual dimension. Poets’ rendezvous with this echo through time is divine; It helps us enshrine our thoughts now in continuous time! Gary Bateman, Copyright © All Rights Reserved, November 27, 2015 (Rhymed Couplet)

- Almost all Norwegian writers / poets wrote in rhyme "in the old days" - But, much "heavy" poem, which is not always easy to understand - I love rhyme poems, but I'm not so good to rhyme in English ... .. I try a bit sometimes - A wonderful poem, dear friend Gary - I would say as a "mutual friend says" ...... "I love everything you write" :)) - tr + - I wish you and Ingrid one lovely weekend :) - Proper storm we are waiting for here - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

Thanks Dear Anne-Lise!! I thought you might find this one interesting. And thanks for the "TR" and the wonderful comments. I understand completely what you say here. I can write, in English, naturally any form: free verse, metered and rhyme, and rhyme, etc. I always try to fit the topics I write on by the best poetic format which will bring out what I'm trying to express to the reader. We have stormy weather here too in Germany, but I think it's worse where you are in Norway. Best Wishes from Ingrid and me for the weekend!! Gary
