An American Thanksgiving Retourne

Plans are made and family gather by land or air, back to their roots. Excitement builds; home is in view! Across the nation, what great feasts! By land or air, back to their roots many have traveled; some have not! Some, with dread, come out of duty, but many others come with smiles. Excitement builds; home is in view. Kids at last can see their cousins! Some may return to leaf-strewn streets. Others come sliding in on ice! Across the nation, what great feasts, with turkey passed round the tables. With relatives, friends or colleagues, folk chat and give thanks on this day! For the Thanksgiving Day Contest of Nayda Ivette Negron

You always seem to be able to write in repeating lines so wonderfully Andrea. It never sounds forced which is a feat many have yet to master, including myself. This should do well in the contest my friend! It sums up Thanksgiving so beautifully. #7

This is all an American truth - the trips I have taken to be with my parents and siblings are numerous, this year, my son travels to me. What isn't mentioned is all the hurry, hurry, rush, rush that we need to eliminate. Good job .... CayCay

A most lovely description of Thanksgiving, Andrea! I think that my entry will be classed as "out-of-point"; my idea of "holiday" is different from the American one, so I branched out to the type of holiday which you would call a vacation! // paul

Hi CayCay...to us a holiday is also taking time off to go abroad touring, etc. Most entries I have seen deal with Thanksgiving, Christmas...(special occasions, if you know what I mean). My entry deals with a trip to India. Maybe I'm being fussy!:)

I know the English use holiday for vacation, but what do y'all use for what we call a holiday? I'm so sorry to intrude on Andrea's page, but I am curious and thought she might be as well. OK, I should scoot out of this box ... CayCay

A holiday I always yearned to celebrate on the isle. Thanksgiving day is one of those days where friends and family gather together to thank the lord. For me it means a lot. Lovely poem.

Wonderful Andrea, I hope your return home is a very happy one. Oh, in answer to your question, I have a couple resent ones that you haven't commented on, whether you've read them or not I don't know: 1-Dragons, 2-Sorry, & 3-Wind

Love the homecoming here that spells families in contact after separation. Clear snap shots in this family album. Enjoyed the presentation of the different journeys home. Nicely done.
