This is a true story from about ten years ago. I was really afraid because the storm came up very hard and fast and I could barely see the freeway as I was driving home from work. Then when the rainbow appeared it was so moving to me because it felt like a small miracle!! It happened in a July and I wrote another poem a long time ago about it called One Day in July.
One bright afternoon, The sky began grumbling as darkness fell swiftly. While rain pounded my windshield, my heart matched it beat for beat. After a small time - darkness fled as my heart lost its pitter patter, and the brightening sky changed to the blue of robins’ eggs. Above the mountains, a lovely bow stretched across the sky in the east, and my heart beat as softly as its soothing pastel hues. (see "about this poem") For Debbie Guzzi's "Transformation Contest"

Andrea, I love storms and rainbows (I am secure enough in my manhood to make that statement :-)). You did a wonderful job describing the event, I can almost see it for myself. Well done. Congrats on making Debbie's winners' list................S.Ronthorpe - "Sam I Am"

it always pleases me to read your stuff ............. it seems to have a direct honest feel about it .......... a bit like walt whitman and others.......the language of this particular poem has a refreshing spontaneous naivety running thru it in words like "sky grumbling" "a small time" "a lovely bow" "robins eggs" which are all suggestive of a lost innocence......many congrats for a well deserved win Andrea

This poem is spectacular Andrea. This write is just what Debbie wanted for her contest! You will do very well in her contest! I love how you chose to go from darkness and fear to the brightness and color of the rainbow that's before you! Thus the transformation obviously! Just a side note, we are getting a new puppy, she's all picked out, she's a Morkie, part Yorkie and part Maltese, very cute! She will be named after we get her! Anyway Great poem, Awesome Work!!

A turbulence transformed into a very peaceful vision, yet I prefer the rain....what does that say about me. Haha. I enjoyed this Andrea. Hope you had a great Valentine's Day.
