An Advocate's Advice

My brother-in-law keeps egging me on "Get active in political races If you wait too long, your chance will be gone Politicos hire familiar faces” Tim always thinks he knows what’s best for me And he just assumes I’ll take his advice After all, he’s blessed with a PhD Knows how to avoid paying market price Though some pursue careers with great gusto Following my heart is more important Political favors I can forego Pursue no payback; suffer no torment If you become the devil’s advocate You might lose self respect, lickety split

I see this won in the sonnet contest which I had never checked out for the winners until today. Congrats for your win and it's so true, Diane. I can't see how those types can hold up their heads with self respect!!

They think they know just what is needed, don't they Diane? Some consistent brotherly love would work wonders for this nation. Congratulations, my lady on your near the top and worthy presentation. Agape, Moses

As soon as a politician is found to be dealing underhand, they should be sacked. It's as simple as that. Good luck in John's Sonnet contest Diane >> James :)

Truthfully stated Diane, all the best with your Sonnet in John's contest. You are right with your assumption that Rugby is huge over here. Thanks for your comment ;) take care Wilma

As you so aptly said, Diane, playing devil's advocate, you do lose your self respect real fast! This should be politics 101 for all...if they cared.. Love, Audrey

You sure did sum up your message well in the last couplet, Diane. I won't play games to win favor with politicians, even when I worked for the state of Florida. Some folks think it's fine to make back-door deals, selling their souls for chunks of change. Powerful statement! Goes to my faves. Love, Carolyn
