Amid a Few Bad Apples

There are a lot of word Smiths on this site Who pen good poems that are out of sight Its likened to attending a beautiful feast Or eating good bread with just enough yeast However, I must point out, and it's not a myth I am in no way, shape, or form a word, Smith But, I marvel at the talented people here Viewing their various poems fills me with cheer I am forever thankful I found Poetry Soup This community is such a fantastic group Finding the gift of words saved my life It rescued me from heartache and strife So, although I don’t cross every “ T” nor; Do I dot every “I” writing means much more I know some could care less about my poetry It’s ok, well all have different tastes, you see However, we must respect one another By not saying nasty things to each other Isn’t this lovely site about sharing poetry? The backbiting needs to stop; It’s no mystery Amid a few bad apples on this amazing site This will always be a place for me to write Alexis Y. 08/18/2022

I concur with all you have said about poetry soup . It is a splendid site. So glad that I have found this site. Here we get the chance to read amazing poetry ! Let us forget about the rotten apples. Among thousands of apples, it is no wonder there are a few rotten ones too. Let us do away with them. We are a great community with the purpose of sharing and growing ! A well deserved POTD, Alexis. Alexis, so happy to see all the affirming comments below that you are SO deserving of. You should add to your POTD the title "EOTD" (encourager of the day) which you have earned many times over. So glad you continue to write and post, for your poetry is your voice and deserves to be heard. You are right about us being a community, and your point of needing to stop the backbiting is right on point. Congratulations Alexis Y. on POTD! This community is a fantastic group! Your "Words" words are powerful; they bring life or death; they’re often used carelessly--said it beautifully as well! I also read one similar from another fine poet "Only Words"--Words spoken in anger like punches thrown.. cut and bruise and scar blighting spirits..breaking hearts only words. I'm so sorry you've had adverse experiences on PS, Alexis. Maybe I've just been fortunate...so far. I have encountered such "bad apples", as you call them on other sites I have been involved with over the years. There are many very talented writers on Poetry Soup, and I am glad I decided to come back after a couple of years of sabbatical. But it's also true that we all could use some tweaking here and there to improve and/or spruce up our work. This piece, BTW, is a great choice for POTD.

Congratulations on your P.O.T.D. win. First, you are a wonderful writer. With soup and with writing we all have different tastes. Some like more/less salt, pepper, spices. Some people like rhymes, verse, happy, sad, long, short writes. We are all very different and that is what makes for a great bowl of soup/writers. Love your ending. Alexis, I am sorry but I disagree because you are indeed a word smith who writes beautiful poetry, and this poem proves that ! I find your poem very powerful and it speaks a sad truth, why do some want to destroy the serenity of this site? Congratulations on your deserving POEM OF THE DAY ~
