America's Skies On the Fourth of July
The Chinese people invented
the fireworks only for pleasure
not for war; such an invention
led to the amazing creation of the canon,
and Galileo de Galilei used it as an artillery.
I'm thrilled by the colorful fireworks lightening up
America's skies on the Fourth of July,
patriotism or not, it's too awesome
to watch them blast against the star-draped sky..
The Chinese had peaceful intentions
when they invented them in their factories;
I should have been there to feel their
excitement when the first one exploded
and sparkles illuminated their peaceful sky.
Even falling stars can't do what they
splendidly do: to astonish and charm;
crowds gather on anniversaries to celebrate
their national pride, and inside they feel
gratitude for those with an ingenuous mind.
