Alpha
As lightening strikes the canyon walls
and eagles give a haunting call,
there comes a mighty sound;
With dancing hooves that seem too small
he prances, standing proud and tall
then stomps to stand his ground,
Alpha stallion may be found.
The mustang runs to greet his mares
and like the flight of lovebird pairs,
his path is free and wild.
He climbs the mountain carved like stairs
with all forefathers, gathered there.
The herd has gathered side by side
within the canyon as they ride,
the ancient ways of old.
As heads are lifted in the pride
to gather power in their stride,
they won't be bought or sold.
When wildfire soars to conquer age
and eagles fly in urgent rage
to give a warning cry,
the herd will gather by their sage
accepting death to be their wage
together shall they die.
