Along the Road (Angel of Sadness)
Across Texas , up through southern Cal
When you don’t think you could journey another mile
Up and down these man made tiles
You know the end’s not far now
Darkness now your guiding light, beneath these stars
You’ve come a long ways now
Too far to settle for an average bar, you can’t rest now
In between these rest stops
Along with your adrenaline, the temperature drops
Now your exhaustion dims the city lights
You look beaten and worn
May the next random stranger pity your life
As loneliness settles into your night
The radio seems to whisper tunes of Motley Crew
Rest may never place its grace upon you
Yes you find this truth, but you can’t rest now
As you whimper into a hotel lobby
So tired, so weak, so determined to seek
As you stumble upon a vacant desk
You’ve lost all hope
But you don’t want to show that you’re an awakened mess
If you’ve rang that bell once, you’ve rang it twice
As you turn to presume your departure
Through these swaying doors
On a pallet, amongst the skies, there she hides
Fallen from the steps, into her arm, this old man lies
Across Texas , up through southern Cal
When you don’t think you can journey another mile
