All Around Darkness Surrounds

Echoes of rage and apathy stomp the barren corridors where hope once flourished Snow-bitten frosts eventually seize the soul Blanketing all that withers inside Tempestuous thoughts amidst agonies wrought No calm from this storm or escaping yourself Confined in a colourless prism that splits drudgery with despair To gaze more willingly at the sombre shadows of yesterday Than pay homage to what tomorrows empty new dawn may hold There's no stars within this darkness, no moon nor albedo glow Imprisoned in the open, where the bars just hide from sight Do you manoeuvre more tentatively when the back can't feel a wall, yet knows that there's a hole Where is the warming fire of sanctuary could it thaw these frosts? When tomorrow seems just an illusion cos little improves each day It matters not which way you look when nothings there to see The starless sight of this eternal night that shadows me at every turn Implosions and explosions in a delicately balanced mind In dreams that taunt where happiness haunts and Loves a ghostly spectator This playground of ghouls and highway for fools on the longest road i know Greed and ruthlessness seem to be appLORDed, No-one takes whats right until there's nothing left While the blind eye's the soul witness to suffering In spite of distance traveled, horizon never changes it all just stays the same Solemnly walking where it looks so dark and flat, yet I know that hole awaits me On faultering feet with laces of snakes wriggle an writhe, try to take me down Are you lucky to be alive when even Satan's pit seems higher ground As emptiness embraces the cold with nothing to fend it off No fire inside not even smoke, the damp and mould can rise The world's not against you, it just doesn't care That is the truth laid pretty bare.
