Alive Today
Alive Today
30/04/2018
Now in remission from my state of addiction,
When my mind was in a place of relentless sedition.
A life free from pain was my ultimate ambition,
Now though I’m happy with a little daily contrition.
Blind to the effect of my pernicious affect,
Not once did I muse on my actions and reflect.
Content with my ignorance all blame I’d deflect,
Close off my heart as a mechanism to protect.
I’m alive today and it’s a conscious decision.
No longer a smelly, dirty object of derision.
Today I’m reducing my pain Meds with precision.
Not wanting a repeat of my bodies demolition.
Power of will, power of mind,
No better medication you’ll find.
I have a mantra - hard work and determination.
Push went you can’t, love because you can.
Look inside, your souls examination,
Look above, your creator has a plan
