and post notes and photos about your poem like Arthur Vaso.
I am of two minds here, so I will let people comment before explaining, never the less this is somewhat of a bio and a love story, and a story that tells you in life, not all things are black and white.
Notes:
I will attempt to explain this, as best I can. This is a work in progress, and I hope a trilogy of poems, based or starting with the life of Alice Cooper. The poem is meant to be, to a certain extent a little mixed up, incoherent as was his life as a Star and suffering from alcohol addiction.
He was indeed a colorful character, and he says that part of his addiction was in becoming the persona on stage that he created “Alice Cooper” He was also in my opinion a great musician and I was told classically trained. ( I can find no evidence of this )
He is known as the father of “Shock Rock” and there are numerous stories, some true and some urban legend, but regardless a great entertainer.
In the poem, I tried to weave both his life story, lines from his lyrics and a few similes. He became the person he was on stage, fueling his addiction, conquering this addiction is a story on to itself. He fell in love with a younger woman Sheryl Goddard, and even though they got divorced, they quickly re-united. A love story that rather than fairy tale, was of two people than made it through very difficult times.
After overcoming his alcohol addiction, he became addicted to yet something else, Golf. Something is wife teases about; she can accept this kind of addiction. My own father does not Golf, he is GOLF. This to say there are a number of minor events, things in life that somehow are interchangeable between myself and him, ok even if I am stretching the imagination here.
Thus the trilogy to come. I will leave it to you all to judge, and part of me thinks these poems are genius, another thinks pure garbage, and even scarier than that , is they are simply mediocre ramblings.
If we don’t try, we will never know, I rather fail, than do nothing.
Also I for sure think this style of poem is to be recited aloud, they say all poems are, but I see some that for sure this is true.
Those who email me, look forward to suggestions and this being a draft will change over time.
