Afterglow
I never again thought I would dream
to bathe my heart and mind
within warm currents of a crystal stream
and leave the stricken past behind.
Never, never can you tell
when the glorious fever will take hold
and melt the harshest snows that fell
a coverlet of cruellest cold.
Dispelling sharpest Winter sting
with touch divine and consummate;
reborn to a vibrant virgin Spring
emotions forced to hibernate.
You touched my life in spite of all,
you gave me all I need to know,
the will to live and always fall
beneath your spell of afterglow...
