After the Storm

Overnight, we experienced thunderstorms here in our part of Texas. Been months since we had any significant rain let alone a thunderstorm. The idea for this poem came to me this morning while walking 'after the storm.'

Overnight the skies shattered. The rain pelted the windowpanes. The winds shifted. The temperature dropped. The sun now lifts its head over the horizon. The sky is a pocket of blue laughter greeting the rolling green. It sparkles with dewy, effervescent diamonds. Like the clean air, I feel fresh again.

Oh gosh thunderstorms! Sounds freaky to me! Ah i have missed reading your poems and how beautiful and seamless is the way you paint imagery dear Sara! You inspire me to write like this! With such concise and soulful lines with descriptive diction! I especially love “ The sun now lifts its head over the horizon.“ wow what a line that is! Impressive! “ It sparkles with dewy, effervescent diamonds.“ ah my heart is truly full! This truly is sheer art at its finest! Fave for me!
