After the Mets Victory
Sitting here on the fabled Lower East Side
I watch the electric warriors on my TV screen
7 innings of shut out ball for the Mets
But relievers came in and gave up a few runs
Victory is sweet
But they rarely let a pitcher pitch 9 innings anymore
Would have been nice to see Noah Syndegard
throw a full game shutout
The game has changed over the years
Players make great sums of money now
And Afro - Americans play alongside
their white(and sometimes Jewish or Asian) brothers
Been a Mets fan for as long as I can remember
As a kid I cried when they lost
In '69 and '86 they won all the marbles
Hope they make it to the World Series this year
The light in my room illuminates the writing notebook
I am using
I can write down that my team won
And hopefully will win tomorrow as well
Let's go Mets!
