After a Poem
Dawn called with dew
On lotus-leaf news
Inviting me to write
A verse in flight
But the bowl to hold was missing
Alas
Sun came and kissed the dew off
I burnt daylight
Fast came the train
Dew gone in vain
The smoke over the coffee mug
My face and nostril closely hugged
I looked for the pen
It had no ink flow
The moist touch of her breath
Again
Went in vain
The twilight was saying bye
The oranges were separating
I looked at again and again
I sought a poem of orange rain
Golden in its visible vein
But a giant cloud moved in from the sun
And it was dark all around
I burnt the daylight yet again
So many lights wasted by day
Nothing left for the night to play
Well
The dark poem of starry night
Came and kissed deep
A tremendous reap
Enough
For a rem sleep
