Afraid To Fly

There once was a bird, somewhat absurd, who was afraid to fly; he was born with the rest, inside of a nest, up high on a mountainside. When off his mother flew and their hunger grew, they knew they were on their own; and let me tell you mister, when his brother and sister flew off he was all alone. As the hours he counted and his hunger mounted, he knew he would have to fly; because he was afraid he cried and prayed for the courage, at least, to try. So he spread his wings, thought of other things, and jumped off the mountainside; as he started to fall, “flap your wings” he heard called from his mother who was nearby. She was always perched above, watching with maternal love, knowing this was a lesson they had to learn; she was full of pride gliding by his side, as the scared one finally took his turn. So, when you feel all alone and there is a flight to be flown know there are loved ones often unseen; who you know it is true are watching you and have not flown away just to be mean.
