Advice In the Midnight
It was an old lady’s voice
That woke me up from my common dreams
It was an old man’s voice
That walk me past my future
It was an old lady’s voice
That told me not to love late in the evening
It was an old man’s voice
That told me of manhood inborn brilliance
It was an old lady’s voice
That sang, strength, hope, courage all night
It was an old man’s voice
That directed me to seek light in a dark world
It was an old lady’s advice
That taught me how to make a lifetime choice
It was a man’s voice
That taught me cherish my lifetime choice
Of all the voices I heard
Of all the vices and virtues, I had
It was a woman’s voice that built this fortress of a man
