I found myself adrift
alone out on the sea
a leaky boat
no overcoat
and very little brie

The tide began to shift
great waves engulfing me
they pulled me down
without a sound
and I could not swim free

But low there was a rift--
a crack in time--to be
a way to win
and to begin
returning from the sea...

There's a childlike innocence which is very appealing in your writing! L & L

Hullo, Cap'n Deb -- a well-written, meaningful, allegorical poem. Very nice to see that you have returned after being adrift at sea(I think that I would have understood the allegory without the footnote and theme classification....but who knows, I can be slow at times lol).
