Above the Clouds
I saw the invitation; it was beckoning down to me
The finger in the clouds it was there and I could see
A stairway to the clouds, opened up and I ascended
I never gave a thought, to where I might have ended.
I stood above the clouds looking down and surveying
The troubles and the strife below, it was then I started praying.
Look at it down there, I saw such beauteous creations
Why oh why can we not just be all united nations?
I was looking through the clouds looking down from above
I begged to the see a sign of peace, a single white dove
This world below, the genius … and beauty beyond compare
Man in all his diversity, everything is there.
Looking up into space the universe stretches out
‘Why are you not helping us?’ In my head I scream that shout
Children dying, sickness wars, Oppressors and pollution
Are you hoping we are clever enough to work out a solution
Looking through the clouds, I see we have it all
But the greediness of man is the one downfall
Yes we are the smartest, so clever with much to gain
The answer came from above the clouds,
that man is just too vain.
