Sara, I'm going to send you a link to one of the letter readings from the musical play 1776 in which Abigail and John Adams are featured.

You have brought to light one part of history that many people have overlooked. In the play "1776" the letters Abigail and John shared with each other were high points -- some romantic, some witty, all interesting. John had asked her to send him "salt peter" for the continental army and the audience laughed when she asked him what it was. A great poem about a remarkable historical character. There were only 2 women in that play - Abigail and Martha Jefferson (whose role I played). Love, CD
