A Working God
Say, where would I find God?
In every sense I do seek God,
For all purpose a God He'll be
But He will be more like me.
He will endure the life I live,
He'll struggle and He'll strive,
Thru the dark days and sunshine
He'll be more human than divine.
Then He can lend me a hand,
By my side, firm He'll stand,
He'll jump with joy when I win,
And turn a blind eye when I sin.
Then everything will be fine with me,
If I can just touch Him, hear and see,
To whom I can simply say,
Stand by me, Lord, to thee I pray.
Right next to me will then be my heaven,
My true confession, my instant salvation...
Alas, it's just a whim, a wistful thinking,
God remain defiantly taciturn, forever hiding!
