A Woman That Forgot
She spoke in riddles that no one understood
but they loved her for the feeling behind each word.
With awards and prestige she built herself up,
With a Patterson Prize and Hurston-Wright tucked under her belt
No one would dare finagle her own ways.
With influence she knocked it down with her voice
and became what she was, just a person with words.
To see her perform is a lesson for any to listen
To hear is all it takes to come away re-born,
Passion and drive is what she has in a sense.
