A Weeping Willow Tree
The mighty redwood lived a thousand years
It lived in a forest from long ago
Surviving ancient fires, it kept its leaves
Standing tall it looked down on trees below.
The elms and pines destined to live and die
Some harvested by man to use their wood
Build homes and furniture then wonder why
He did any harm, taking all he could.
As the fires abated, new seeds began
And new trees were produced for all to see
Then a species arrived by Natures hand
And it was named a Weeping Willow tree.
To mourn for the others destroyed by man
When he once interfered with Natures plan.
