A Wave

Today as I was going into a store, A guy said thank you for holding the door. It made me smile that he was so courteous, He could have just barged out,so ungracious. This got me to thinking about how folks behave, How, with this simple gesture a life you could save. I read somewhere, a man who would smile or wave, To everyone he passed by on his travels each day. His wife asked, if he didn't know them, why wave. He said he had read that someone thinking to die, Would see that wave and suicidal thoughts would die. So my friend you never know who you will pass by today, Just give them a smile or a wave as you go on your way. Most times the outcome you will never get to know, But your attitude may sow gratitude and help someone grow. © Dave Timperley 28 August 2016
