A Tale Still Told
The tale begins
with a maiden so fair,
Trapped inside
of a dragon's lair.
Relying upon
her shining knight,
To rescue her
at dawn's first light.
She watched the dragon
pacing the floor,
Until he grew weary
and paced no more.
When suddenly
to the maiden's delight,
Through tired eyes
she saw her knight.
With shield held high
and sword in hand,
The bravest knight
in all the land.
Escaping the dragon's
fiery breath,
He fought until
the dragon's death.
And riding off
for home at last,
Her kingdom's terror
was now the past.
And though the tale
is really quite old,
Children still smile
whenever it's told.
