A Student's Prayer
When I was very young,
The world was all wonder and enchantment;
Each day a waking miracle
Each night a sacred prelude
To the pageant of my dreams.
Though that time has faded now,
Beneath the distance of the years,
My heart yearns to gains its feeling back -
And I look to you to guide my way.
Knowledge wakens wonder:
Teacher, wake me from my sleep,
Help me bring my dreams
Back to the sweetness of that long-ago light,
Unlock the door into the heaven of my mind
By showing me What Is, What Was,
And What May Be.
Open me back into myself,
Then leave Discovery up to me.
