A Squirrels Mind
Some days I feel like a squirrel,
thats in the middle of the road,
not knowing which way to go,
not knowing which way to turn,
and when I go shopping,
and am on the shampoo aisle,
instead of grabbing anything,
it takes me like an hour,
when in a chinese restaurant,
the variety is just too much,
so I end up ordering my usual,
and a little of everything else,
my husband definitely
likes to confuse me,
with his famous lines,
"the other flip of the coin,"
or "on the other hand,
which truly can confound my mind...
maybe I'm part squirrel,
because I enjoy eating walnuts,
just can't break them open
any longer with my two front teeth,
and now that I'm older
can no longer scurry up the trees...
I think the confusion started,
with my parents from the start,
when they decided to
change my name from
Darlene to Cheryl,
a.k.a the squirrel,
on my birth certificate.
