A Sonnet For You

Youth like a pale spring flower blown in summer breeze, Like the blossom of an apple tree as it fades from sight, It lasts but a little while as the green summer leaves, But when in bloom is glorious as swans in flight. You dance across the floor as a flower petal falls, Delicate and so light within you shines a glow, Of innocence and maturity rolled loosly in a ball, Dancing where lesser beings seem to pass so slow. Don’t let go of youthful and innocent thought, Go out and gather it all before the night draws in, As soon the inner glow fades as age is slowly fought, Revel in your youth as you let the dance begin. Heads will rock with inner sound, As you skip and twirl a life you have found. © Andrew P McIntyre 8/10/2016.
