A Song For Spring
With sounds of laughter in the breeze
a year unfolds, each crease by crease
The trees remember every word
that comes from winter's slumber, stirred
The air has held a pregnant pause
while waiting for the sign of thaw
Alas! Today the change begins,
An overture within the wind,
ushered in by voices, small
of a redwing's flute, we might recall
There is whimsy in the morning's song
that springs alive with joy and awe
The hills resound of symphonies
now sifted through each living thing
Each blade of grass, each velvet bloom
resumes a faith that all is well
Blue skis washed clean, with brilliancy
and sun arrives with birds on wing
At last earth wakes from hibernation
to glorify her re-creation
In her overture, announcing spring
earth blesses each and everything
