A Soldiers Dream

With the dream to fight for your country Being one of freedoms rights Shame you didn't see The sniper up in the tree That took that part away from your life They shipped your friends home in a casket Right next to the cot on the plane where you lay As they call you blessed Who would ever have guessed This day you'd rather be given the grave No one on the tarmac to greet you Anyways you always hated to see your mama cry And with all that's gone on You don't feel much like home Is where you could spend the rest of your life Who knew how much this all would cost you As you fell deep into the Hollywood hype Now you know what they mean Saying freedoms not free When you paid more than you would have liked You're no longer in the battle but still in the fight As the nightly voices in your head scream There you slept in the sand Here on a park bench Living out that American dream

Chilling Mike.I have the highest respect for the soldiers, but the painful reality is that they are so often treated with indifference, after pledging their life for the country.Sad.
