A Soldiers' Silent Battle

I am asked to take the life of another, Could it be that hard to kill a fellow brother? A soul given life by God the same as my own, Is this the only way that peace is able to be shown? I have buried little ones the same age as my children, Would I do the same if it were my child’s grave being filled in? Seek desperate measures in order to save my land? Perhaps, I might never be forced to understand... Why my enemies are of fierce desolate fighters in the shadows, Or what my mind will be as the killer in my conscious grows! Will I return normal to my life in the states? Or will I think of the many to whom I determined their fates? Could I tell God I had to take judgment into my own hands? Or would he be disappointed with the people of our land? I never imagined the "Be All You Can Be" would lead me to this, It is my family and country with whom I truly miss. I just stare up at the sky only praying that this will end, Desperately hoping that we won't ever be forced to kill again!
