In this time of world uncertainty, as celebrations draw near I would ask you to join me in a simple moment of thanks Thanks for the warmth of our homes against the cold Thanks for cupboards not overflowing, but not empty Thanks for the absence of foreign soldiers on our soil Thanks for the power of hope in our everyday lives Thanks for ability to speak openly when oppression appears Thanks for the ability to express the love in our hearts with those close to us and share this simple moment of thanks And, as we give thanks, let us not forget those less fortunate For in this world of uncertainty their plight casts a dark shadow throughout the four corners of the world that cannot be ignored
