A September Morning
Bundled up against the chill morning air
I sit on my deck soaking up the sun.
The deer below nibble leaves without care.
My presence here no longer makes them run,
they will tolerate me 'til they are done.
The September sky is so bright and blue.
Beautiful days like this will soon be few.
We must enjoy them while they are still here
for much too soon this summer will be through
and I'll have no more mornings with the deer.
