A Secret Told
I was told of a secret long time ago,
It was shared by someone I once did know,
He confided, that joys of living abound
When mortals are willing to go around,
The fruits from seeds they do lovingly sow;
I asked him, how could one be patient lifelong
Forsake earthy pleasures that often throng?
He said it was hard but he knew it for sure
As grave angels had told him to adjure,
Solemn wisdom to be carried along;
I concurred, but asked if it wasn't too late -
Having learnt such deeper secrets innate,
Had it been earlier it would have had worth
Times when we were walking freely on earth,
Not when bequeathed with a corpse's fate.
