A Second Chance
You finally get home,
And you see it in his eyes.
There will be no mercy,
For tonight you will die.
So You summon your courage,
And gather your strength.
For if you don't,
You will no longer remain.
You flee that place,
Of derogation and pain.
And you vow that night,
That your life will not be the same.
You locate a shelter,
That takes in the battered.
They will heal your life,
That he had shattered.
You slowly move on,
With therapy and compassion.
And they help you,
Find life's passion.
Your life is no longer the same,
You are a stronger woman.
And never again,
Will you be controlled by a man.
