A Sad Day At the Veterinary Clinic

(To my Best Friend) For you I dream of hope always for tomorrow, yet this day one hope’s never to end although this life without a dream a reality to pretend, alas without a lifetime friend. It’s almost tomorrow a life sadly coming to an end, something inside of me tells one I’d been so wrong when dreaming of our lives in streams of tomorrow. It’s almost tomorrow this day one hope’s never to end, tomorrow I know you’ll cease to be my only friend this life you live to come to an end. Goodbye! Oh no it’s almost tomorrow this day which will wrench us apart, “Please oh please take the good out of goodbye, there is nothing good, about a final farewell” © Harry J Horsman 2011

Harry, I can really relate to this one. We had to set a day to have our dearest cat put to sleep several years ago. The two new cats simply cannot replace her. they don't even come close! (about my avatar. I don't understand how to do it.I just happened to get that picture in sunglasses easily. I tried to change it for ya to see my eyes, but it didn't work out. The one I tried was too blurry, and I ended up with another sunglasses picture. haha)

This reminds me of that old country-western song of yesteryear titled "Old Shep". Very descriptive as it aroused my emotions while reading.

A fine tribute. That is so painful even though one knows it is what's best for the dog.

This is such a poignant piece. I've been there and done that so many times. I have always had animals for friends. they're the best kind to have and it hurts to lose them. Just remember that you have saved your friend from more suffering and I believe that God has a place in Heaven for all His creatures, not just us. Nothing without a soul can love and they love more completely than people do. God Bless my frienbd, JB

Puppy and I snuggled up in the covers last night...I love him dearly...I couldn't even imagine having to do what you are about to do! My prayer is that you will remember the good times and your selflessness to end his suffering...the poem shows such a slow agonizing progression of time...ahhh heck. I am so sorry for this scenario for you! And at Christmas. Hang in there, Harry. Gwendolen

Harry...A powerful and touching write. I had to take my 14 year old Great Pry. to her journey to the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago. There WAS a good part...she no longer had to be in pain and she was able to run over the rainbow bridge w/ her friends. It is a hard thing to do but a very selfless act.
