A Response To Your First Poem

New Year, Past Years Dawn, looking as blush as twilight, Where the silhouette of trees still lingers And envelopes me— Transporting me to my world of yesterday. I can still hear my children’s laughter; Watch them play and dance To their sweet singing tunes. How quiet the morning is now That they are grown and gone. As I look out toward the grey sea And Diamond Head I can see their faces in the rising sun. © Connie Marcum Wong January 2, 2010 Response Poem: As More Years Pass There is more beauty in my life now Than I could have ever imagined. When our last child left home And our voices seemed to echo Through our silent empty rooms I felt the sadness of a mother's Longing to be loved and needed. As my son blessed me with his son And my daughter with her daughter, Our home was once again filled With children's happy laughter and With my contented laughter too. I help my daughter raise her daughter Who reminds me every blessed day As more and more years have passed That I have saved the best for last! © Connie Marcum Wong September 29, 2015 Contest: A response to your first poem Sponsor: Silent One

Nice to read your first Poem of 2010 with the wonderful response Poem dear friend. How wonderful to see the two different images together. A mark changed is apparent and joyfully projected by you in the second one. It’s rare joy to enjoy and to spread. With love and best wishes...Ravindra K Kapoor

Hi Connie! As a parent and grandparent I can very much relate to both these poems. In the first one you miss the children who have flown the nest; in the second a void is filled by the presence of a beautiful granddaughter. The final two lines are so lovely and meaningful:) #7 hugs // paul

Your words took stage and treated the reader to a glimpse of your heart and soul as your magic pen danced and brought to light the best of both your sad and happy thoughts. Emile.

We both got 4th place in that contest Andrea. I am glad you liked what I did with the response. Grandchildren give you the chance to renew your life through a child's eyes which brings so much joy. Thanks my friend. I really enjoyed your entry too. Hugs, Connie

Both poems show the great love of a parent. The response exhibits love magnified to be from a parent that is now a grandparent. Last two verses seals it so fine my friend. A7

Oh how sweet of you Charmaine. I am over the moon crazy about my little three year old granddaughter Carissa. She brings such joy into our lives. My five yr. old grandson, sadly, I only get to see once a year as they live an ocean away. Thanks so much for the fave. Hugs, Connie xxoo
