A Reflection of You

I never knew you as my daddy, But in my heart you dwell. I was too young to understand, That ultimate farewell. In my heart...I know you love me, And watch over me and my two sons. But one day we’ll walk hand-in-hand, When this precious life...is done. Everyday...I strive to be, Half the person you were. But when I sift my memories, They always seem to blur. I often ponder what life would be, If you had that chance to stay. But your departure transformed me, Into the strong girl...I am today. One thing I fail to notice, Is in everything I do. That through the eyes of others, I cast a reflection of you. _______________________ Written for my friend, Lacy!

A very touching and moving poem. I know the feeling all to well of not having your dad here still with you. Watching your kids grow and to share the enjoyment or stories of what the kids have done. I had time with my father but to me the time wasn't long enough.

I was lucky to have both parents in my life even after I moved to the US (I would invite them every other year for 6 months at a time) I cannot imagine to live your life just longing and wondering what would have been like to grow up with a Dad. And when you think that some "kids" don't appreciate their parents who are still alive...Sad! Emotional quatrain, dear Raul
