A Puzzle You Once Played

Where did the time go, who took it from you? You can't even imagine what we've all been through. Looking for your yellow that never appeared, And deep down unforgiveness is what you really feared. Cuz' fear is tricky that way, and your animals or us couldn't make you stay, you turned and ran the other way, leaving us to move on for another day. Your eyes so red with a smile so sweet, I always thought you'd get back on your feet. No one could have saved you, my love, I guess they needed another angel up above. So there you were under a beautiful pine, took your last breath, what was really on your mind? So many unanswered questions, so many learned life lessons, and now I'm trying to count my blessings, thinking of all your confessions, while recalling your final transgressions. Your mountain wasn't in Colorado or even down here, way up above the clouds is when it became so clear. I stay strong for my daughter who you left without a note, what will I tell her when she grows old? Tell her you fell asleep and woke up with the Lord?? Well, that's what I tell her, one day she will know more. She'll put the pieces together, like a puzzle you once played, while she remembers all the silly things out of play doh you made. I breathe to make her laugh, I live for her to breathe, what do I say when she asks why did you really leave? She looked up to you and will learn in a blink, she remembers “Charlie and Lola” and of course “Lion's stink”. You broke your kid's hearts and left your animals below, without their true mumma, and you still decided to go. Could have been honest about your fears, I was there to listen, spoken without reservations, I'd listen without condition. Written By: Laura Loo
