A Promise
Put away your words,
In the corner of this room
I see your shadow
A darkness covering my body
This time, the cut is too deep
As I lay here, the air warm
Against my skin,
The color of burgundy in streaks
Racing across the floor
And I run to hide my pain,
Once more.
Over time, I have bled,
With each lash of your whip
With each breath of poison,
Now, I have learnt to hide
The grey colors of my worn skin
The familiar tears in my soul,
Fragments of cloth cover them
No one must know
But you and me, a promise, we shall keep.
