A Profound Gratitude
Having been on the brink of death like a wretch so vile,
hope and light suddenly vanished;
and soon isolation and despair would have been mine....
if a caring angel had not appeared.
Thankful for having known a profound gratitude
that made me reach an unknown altitude;
before nothing reflected reality...
love didn't exist through memory.
Nobody noticed me being in a trance
as moods turned desperate and intense;
outside they were many smiling faces...
lovers and friends exchanging embraces.
Nothing feels greater than a profound gratitude;
that angel came down and changed my attitude
towards life and people who stared and wondered...
why I seemed so unwilling to share their world.
