A Preemie's Prayer

Dear Lord, It is me, your tiniest ward. And though I have been here such a short while, There is a list of prayers I have already compiled. Though I am only a few hours old, The absence of your presence in my mother's heartbeat has left me so cold! Please watch over my Mom and Dad, Whatever happens I never want to see them sad. Please take care of all sisters and brothers, And every one of your angels' papas and mothers. Let all people, no matter creed or race, get along, For war has ravaged this earthly paradise for far too long. Protect the weak and make them strong, And if you must admonish your children do so kindly in order to teach them right from wrong. Protect our pets with your gentle hands, Let there be food aplenty in all your lands. Protect and carry the children you so kindly made, Shed your inner light on all who are afraid. Let your children know that all they need to do is speak your name to know peace, And please let all the violence against your children cease. Please take care of all your daughters and sons, And grant them peace and love by the tons. One more thing before I go, While I still feel your magnificent glow... If it is not too much to ask, protect me too, though now I may seem small I the scheme of things, I am not quite ready to once again don my angel's wings. Until we speak again, I will remain your truest and tiniest friend, And until the next, I say with all the love I can muster, Amen!
