Thesaurus and dictionary close at hand, A steaming mug on the chairside stand. Prepared, I wait with anticipation… What's keeping that muse With the inspiration?

ha! well said, jim! many times i sit down and just stare into space, hoping that an idea will come. it always does, but it's so much easier when i have the idea before i take out my little writing book and pencil...

I can relate to this one, but I do not use dictionary, can you tell? lol.... Today, I wrote a poem and did not have a clue what it would be about and just let my words flow... poetry should be natural, not forced... i am normally inspired by what I see an what I feel.. enjoyed your poem, Jim..
