A Poem On My Heart
~
Brought about a simple truth
as words collect the page
Offered as a shred of proof,
a testament to age
Countless whispers call the plan,
now seeking but a line
Hoping some will understand,
it happens over time
Hearts will break, the papers say
while reading through the news
Making steps along the way
much easier to choose
As I walk to northern dreams,
the ink not even dry
Everything is what it seems,
when I don't even try
For you are all I long to see,
my eyes are opened wide
Wishing you were here with me,
a fact I cannot hide
So as the pen begins its flow
in phrases gathered here
The only thing I hope you know,
my verses make it clear
It matters not what people say
when gathered on the street
Staring at this sad display
so nimble on his feet
Yours alone will always be
the love I can't depart
Forever it is here with me,
a poem on my heart
