A Place In the Sun
Crouched down low,
her crumpled frame
admits defeat
awash with shame
"My child," He calls
through murky dark
her ear inclined
she feels a spark
"Lift up your eyes"
and so she gazes
heavenward
in tiny phases
trembling in fear
paralyzed by sin
the girl decides
to tilt back her chin
"I LOVE YOU" He cheers
in streams of warm light
bathed in its rays
the sun dissolves the night
a freed girl dances
in a field of flowers
no longer bound
by her darkest hours
