A Peaceful Place

A peaceful place where memories linger, linger through the grasses upon soft winds, winds that carry the nightingale as she sings, sings a lullaby to the passed at restful sleep. *Not an entry for Nette's contest, but it was inspired by visual #3 (cemetery)

You're very welcome, Andrea. Thanks for entering!... I decided to write for this contest at the last minute and there just wasn't enough time to finish the poem.

Well Kelly, this SHOULD have been an entry because it would have won 1st place hands down (If I were the judge anyway) VERY unique take on the visual and SO elegantly written... I admire the fact that you are not concerned or obsessed with winning contests but prefer sponsoring them...To me, it shows that you are a selfless soul with a lack of ego. Good stuff my friend! - Tim

I truly appreciate your kind words. Thank you, Tim... I enter contests here and there, when I have the time. But, winning and trying to be the "best" is not what poetry is about... I decided to write for this contest at the last minute and I just ran out of time!

Lovely shape and language, all of which contribute to 'A Peaceful Place.' the last/ first word pickups are a fine attribute. Well done Kelly. Best wishes, Keith

Kelly, I think this is so cool. Many think of cemeteries as a sad spooky place, but there are memories, many good memories. For many death is a resting place from the age of life. You rock, I like it!

Thank you, Ed. Your nice comments really meant a lot to me... I visit family in cemeteries each year and these places do feel alive, not gloomy at all. The sun is always shining there, the grass is green and the birds do sing.

Thank you so much, Jan! I missed the deadline for this contest, so I didn't enter this poem. I would need to make some changes to the syllable count to meet the contest rules :)
