A Passing

The sad news came out and it quickly went viral, a shock to the system, a bolt from the blue, sorrow picked off his friends in a dark downward spiral from the ones he loved most to the ones he just knew. Departing so swiftly with almost no warning, a life had been taken, no time for goodbyes, the smiles now replaced with the heartbreak and mourning, the future days spattered with more tears to dry. Yet the darkness will yield in good time to a new day as love and support launch a counter attack, for all that he did and he gave in his own way through kindness and love will now all be paid back. The memories treasured by those who surround him and those from his past, miles and years apart, will raise all their spirits, give thanks that they found him, bring a smile to the face, and solace the heart. The gate he has passed through, in our time we must all face, though we know not how long until that fateful hour, but hope in our hearts one more time we shall embrace, for such is our hope in a much higher power. The gravestone or Urn not the ends of our story, though flowers may wilt and age tempers our loss, this life one short step to a much greater glory a reward given freely, paid for on the Cross.

One to be treasured but not hidden away. Worth perusing more than once or twice. A poem like this is most welcome I am sure in the times we live. Takes my mind off influx of new gangs in NZ. Police shot dead one this week after he fired on police with semi automatic. Have posted poem called "So you think gangs are cool'. Thanks again for your post,. Regards David in NZ

Early fifties? Oh no. Here we say "God between us and all harm." Do you?

This is fantastic, Viv. So true that our passing can be at any time but our memory lives on in those who knew us and our end is not in death.

Thanks, Andrea, he was a pal who didn't feel well at a pub quiz, and died of a brain haemorrhage the following morning. Early fifties, a real shock. Live life to the full, I say. Hope you're all well x

Death of someone always comes as a shock, even when you're expecting it. You're right though Viv, it is a doorway we'll all pass through.
